Young Persons Training

Phoenix Programme for Young People

We understand that some young people have different needs when it comes to engaging them in the process of learning, especially in the areas of motivation and self esteem. That’s why we have developed our Phoenix Programme in association with Turquoise Personal Development. We are both passionate about today’s young people and believe by giving them the right learning environment and motivation they can achieve great things.

The Outcomes of the Phoenix Programme

  • Build greater self-confidence
  • Engage in breaking old habits
  • Build self-esteem
  • Increase self-awareness
  • Gain direction and focus
  • Develop a positive attitude
  • Gain stronger self-belief
  • Learn to take responsibility
  • Become accountable for own actions
  • Develop respect for self and others
  • Gain a better self-image.

The course layout

This course is two weeks long and designed for eight students to ensure that maximum learning takes place, it starts with student interviews on day one, the first week is then split into both classroom and outdoor sessions designed to reinforce learning through practical application.

By the end of the first week the students are ready to undertake their weekend challenge, which sees them having to night navigate into the forest where they have to build their own bivi style accommodation, cook their own food and undertake various tasks designed to ensure that maximum learning and personal development takes place.

The student’s final week is made up of session of reflection and finalisation of their portfolios for accreditation, sessions on action planning for the future and a session on production of their final presentations.

The course concludes with the students giving a short presentation on their achievements over the course to their friends and families.

Accreditation

This course provides the students with the opportunity to gain an NOCN qualification in Personal Development.

Business involvement

Our long-term plan for this course is to give local businesses the opportunity to sponsor a group of young people to undertake it, this ensures that local businesses are given the opportunity to invest in both the future for young people and their local community.

For students who are not ready for the whole two week course, individual training days can be tailored to suit their learning needs, preparing them for the Phoenix Programme in the future.
